GoGroops helps people plan and share group travel. This policy explains the information we may collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

We may collect information you provide, including your name, email address, phone number, profile information, trip details, itinerary items, messages, journal entries, photos, files, notification preferences, and related traveler information. If you sign in through Google or another provider, we receive basic account information permitted by that provider.

We may also collect technical information such as device type, app version, IP address, diagnostic data, and push-notification tokens. Location information is collected only when you choose to share it or use a feature that requires it.

How we use information

We use information to operate GoGroops, authenticate accounts, organize trips, display content to authorized trip members, send invitations and notifications, provide maps and travel-related features, protect the service, troubleshoot problems, and improve the product.

How information is shared

Your trip content may be visible to members of the applicable trip according to the sharing options you select. We may share information with service providers that support hosting, storage, email, maps, authentication, image generation, analytics, and notifications. We do not sell personal information.

AI features: the trip assistant, AI cover pictures, importing an itinerary from text and reading a booking confirmation are powered by Google Gemini. When you use them, we send Google the trip details needed to answer: places, dates, itinerary items and comments, and the names and ages of the people on the trip (ages are worked out from dates of birth when people have added them). To read a booking confirmation we send the text you paste, with card numbers removed first. The app asks for your permission before the first use, and you can turn this off in Profile. Other features use Google Maps and Places (maps, place search and photos), Google Translate (only for a message you choose to translate), Amazon Web Services (storage), and Firebase (push notifications).

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

Data retention and security

We retain information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You may update profile and notification settings in your account. You may request access, correction, or export of your personal information by contacting us. You can disable push notifications through the app or device settings.

Deleting your account: you can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile, then Delete account) or on the website (Account, Personal data, Delete). Your profile, sign-in details, journals, saved travelers and their documents, shared locations, and trips only you are on are deleted. On trips shared with others, messages you already sent, costs and who owes whom, and votes remain visible to the other members under the name "Deleted traveler", so their trip records stay complete. You can also ask us to delete your account by contacting us.

Blocking and reporting: you can block another traveler or report a message or person in the app. Reports, including a copy of the reported message, are sent to our team for review.

Children

GoGroops is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

International use

Your information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy here and update the date above.
